SSS #163: We’re going Down…

29 07 2009

(…or the post I’ve been “visualizing” to write since forever! :D )

… Under!!!

Guess what the mailman brought in yesterday?

At long last, after 15 months or so of waiting (and praying very hard!), I can now share with you our “family secret”… we are finally ”cleared for entry” to Australia!   Yes, it has been a little over a year now that we have been waiting for word from the “Wizards of Oz” (aka Australian immigration authorities) as to the status of our application for permanent residence in the Land Down Under.

And up until a week ago, just as we were in the thick of our home leave in good ol’ Pinas, an unexpected blessing comes our way – our agent relayed to us the good news that we finally got the nod of the Aussies to join them in raising our family on the only nation-continent on the planet – woot, woot!

Naturally, being the “camwhore” I have since ”evolved” into since joining a photo club months ago - I have pictures to boot! Hahaha!

Although we have yet to decide when our final exit would be from our adoptive kingdom, we are comforted by the fact that we have now secured an additional “option” in hopefully providing a better future and legacy to our children.

What can I say? The Lord has again shown us his faithfulness and generosity and we can never thank Him enough for this wonderful surprise!

And to all of you who have shown us your support in this “endeavor” – be it through prayers, encouraging words and acts of kindness – thank you very, very much! :) Please do continue to keep our family in your prayers as we near the close of our desert adventures and begin yet another chapter in our ongoing real-life telenovela.

To God be the glory!

SSS #162: For the First Time…the Second Time Around!

29 07 2009

Pardon the “semi-lengthy” hiatus prior to this second installment… been quite busy livin’ “la vida loca” (Manila-style) – hahaha!

Without further ado, allow me to share with you another “first” in the life of our favorite diva-lette…

STAGE MOM MOMENT #2: AND…CUT!

Oh yes, at the ripe old age of 37 (months), our dear princess had her very first haircut! Of course, I just had to capture this moment for posterity – and with a few hair clippings tucked away too for her baby book!

Again, let these snaps tell you the story…

“Rapunzel, Rapunzel, let down your golden hair!”

And so, they quickly got down to “business”…

And who else could be her worst critic but herself…

Guess what her verdict was?

Well, your guess is as good as mine!

My conclusion? This first was definitely a lot more “painless” than the dental visit! Could it be because, like her mother and countless other aunts and grandmothers before her, Marga was more willing (and excited?) to undergo this “minor inconvenience” for the sake of beauty? ;)   You be the judge!

Till my next Pinas post… ciao!

SSS #161: For the First Time…

18 07 2009

Lest you break out into song, let me warn you that this is NOT an audio-related post nor is it a review of a recent Pinoy feel-good movie of the same name… ;)

What is it then, you may ask?

Well, being the “stage mom” that I am – especially when it comes to my kids’ milestones – let’s just say I wanted to let you in on the latest buzz about our precocious “diva-lette”…  And since I anticipate this to be quite a picture-heavy post, I’m doing you (especially those who, like me, find themselves on the “attention-deficit” side of the fence when reading lengthy posts – hahaha! ) the favor of posting it in two installments.

STAGE MOM MOMENT #1:  The Dental Visit

What better way to spend the first day of July than by having her very first trip to the dentist?  Let these pics tell you the story…

Upon arrival at the dental clinic, I could sense that she was feeling a bit “iffy” about the set-up (notice she was holding her Little Mermaid doll for comfort)…

Until she was led to the reclining dental chair where she “obediently” settled in…

…where she put on a brave front inspite of the obvious discomfort painted all over her tiny face!

In the end, though, her “courage” paid big time – apart from realizing she really had nothing to be scared about…

She (and her kuyas and ate cousin) even went home with small tokens from their gracious dentist – yey!

So what did my “mommy heart” learn from this seemingly routine experience of my kids? Many times, especially with “dreaded” medical procedures, I get worked up over the silliest things when there really is nothing to worry about!   Who knows?  A ”prize” might even await me at the end of it all, right? ;)

More “firsts” on my next post… stay tuned!

LP #66: Tuyo (Dry)

16 07 2009

May tutuyo pa ba dito? ;)

Presenting…

O ano, na”tuyo”-an ba kayo?

SSS #160: “Grab Life by the Ball”

8 07 2009

…or so went the tagline from a 2004 American comedy…

Had a very different kind of “bonding activity” last Monday… never would have thought that a certified couch potato like me would enjoy… (drum roll please) DODGEBALL!

Yes, never mind the sweltering Manila heat.  I even surprised myself when I actually enjoyed a game I remember playing when I was still about seven years old or so.  What made it more special was that I got to play this game not only with my three kids and their cousin but also with my favorite look-alike – my “newly seniored” dad! As an added bonus, I also got to burn (even for a while) all those calories from my inescapable foodie binges while on holiday  Now ain’t that just cool?

Made me realize once again that often times, it is truly the simplest things that make us happy.  We just have to seize the opportunities to do so when they come our way.  God is good! :D

SSS #159: T is for…

3 07 2009

… a jampacked TUESDAY when we started off the day being

…”TRANSFORMED“!

I kept my promise to the boys that I will watch Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen with them.  Being H1N1-averse, we headed off to the first showing at the nearby cinema.  I was not disappointed to find only about 20 people max watching with us :) What’s more, the action-packed robot fight scenes were definitely more than enough to keep us entertained and mostly at the edge of our seats for the three-hour (!) duration of the movie. I highly recommend this film to parents with tween boys. ;)

Come early afternoon, it was time for me to keep my end of the bargain to diva-lette when I let her (and fave girl cuz Alyssa) tag along with Wowo, Wiwa and me to TAGAYTAY!  And boy, did we have F-U-N!

Finally, before heading home, we decided to pay a visit to the newest cutie in the family…

At the end of the day, we can only thank God for blessing us with such a  a totally terrific Tuesday!
